Question: Q: Borough Clerk - What are the hours for the Borough Clerk's Office? A: The Clerk's Office Hours are Mon-Fri, from 9am-4:30pm Summer hours are Friday 8:30am-3:30pm. The Borough Clerk's office is open Monday nights by appointment only.
Question: Q: Finance Dept. - I am a vendor for the borough. What are the payment procedures for Borough of Dumont vendors? A: Vendor payments are approved once a month at the regular meeting of the Borough Council. In order to be placed on the "Bills List", the Finance Department must receive a signed voucher on the Wednesday before the meeting.
Question: Q: DPW - What should I do with yard debris, leaves, & grass? A: The leaves and grass clippings from your lawn must be put in 32 gallon pails only (no plastic bags), or brown recyclable bags.
Question: Q: DPW - What should I do with my tree branches? A: Branches must be cut no longer than 4 feet long and tied in small bundles and put out for Wednesday pickup or can be put out with your regular garbage pickup.
Question: Q: DPW - Can I dispose of construction debris with my regular garbage? A: No - Sheetrock, paneling, concrete, brick and other building matericals must be discarded at the owner's expense. It will not be picked up by the garbage contractor.
Question: Q: DPW - How can I dispose of household hazardous waste (ie: paint, pesticides, flourescent bulbs, etc.)? A: You must take these items to a household hazardous waste collection site. Refer to www.bcua.org for a listing of all collection dates.
Question: Q: DPW - How do I dispose of computers/electronics and tires? A: These items must be taken to a computer/electronics and tire recycling site that the Bergen County Utilities Authority provides. Refer to www.bcua.org for a list of all collection dates.
Question: Q: DPW - How do I properly containerize recycling/newspaper for pickup? Answer: - For mixed paper, magazine, junk mail, envelopes, telephone books and soft cover books, corrugated boxed (please flatten) use brown paper bags, a laundry basket, corrugated box or milk crate for paper recycling. - For aluminum & tin cans, mixed color glass, bottles and jars, plastic beverage bottles, dishwasher bottles, detergent bottles, use 32 gallon garbage cans or recyclable pails that can be purchased from the Borough at a cost of $5.00 per pail.
Question: Q: DPW - Can I drop off recyclable items at the DPW garage? A: The DPW garage provides a roll off box located on the south side of the building on Twin Boro Lane for paper. There are no accomodations for glass, & plastic and bottle drop-off.
Question: Q: DPW - What do I do with my old appliances? (ie: refrigerator, washers, dryers, A/C) A: You must call the DPW at 201.387.5045 for a pickup schedule. Items should not be put out at the curb until the night before pickup.
Question: Q: Taxes - How do I pay my property taxes? A: Taxes are payable in person or by mail quarterly: February 1, May 1, August 1, & November 1.

Question: Q: Borough Clerk - Do I need a permit for a garage sale? If so, how much does it cost? A: Yes. Permit applications are available at the Borough Clerk's office or can be downloaded from this website on our forms page. The fee is $2.00 per day.

Question: Q: Seniors - Does the Borough of Dumont have low rent/low income housing? A: Yes, there is low rent/low income housing located at 2 Aladdin Avenue.
Question: Q: Seniors - How do I get on the list for low rent/low income housing? A: Write to the Bergen County Housing Authority and request an application. You can mail your request to 25 Rockwood Place, Englewood.
Question: Q: Seniors - Does the Borough of Dumont have bus service for seniors, and if so, what is the bus schedule? A: Yes, the Borough of Dumont has bus service for seniors. The Senior Bus Schedule is Monday thru Friday 7am to 2pm. The bus return trip from a doctor must be back in Dumont no later than 2pm.
Question: Q: Seniors - What towns can I book a doctor appointment in? A: Any town with an affiliation to Englewood Hospital, Hackensack University Hospital, Holy Name Hospital, and Valley Hospital. Also Veterans Facility in Hackensack.
Question: Q: Seniors - Do you take seniors other places than to their doctor appointments? A: Yes, we will take you to the following places; Doctor, Dentist, Chiropractor, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Post Office, Borough Hall, Nursing Home, etc.
Question: Q: Seniors - Does the senior bus take seniors food shopping? A: Yes, on Friday mornings beginning at 7am. We shop at Stop & Shop only.
Question: Q: Seniors - Does the bus take seniors to activities at the Senior Center? A: Yes, to Bingo on Mondays, and all other daily activities if the driver can fit it into their doctor appointment schedule. On occassion we are too busy. The bus is available for all of our parties and affairs!
