Dumont Town Celebrations is gearing up for another fantastic evening to kick off the holiday season with the 3rd Annual Winter Festival being held at Memorial Park Friday, December 4th. Start time of the event is 7:00 pm.
This year’s theme is Gingerbread! To make things a bit more festive and exciting for the community, we are inviting our creative residents to join in a Gingerbread House Contest. To be eligible for the competition you must deliver your completed structure with your name labeled underneath to the Dumont Borough Hall on Monday, November 23rd between the hours of 10am-2pm or 6-8pm. Gingerbread houses will be displayed at the Borough Hall. Winners will be announced at the Winter Festival on December 4th. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place houses.*
There will be hayrides driven through the pathway in the park which will once again be donated by D’Angelo’s Farm. A trackless train-ride for the children will also be available at the park and the night air will be filled with the music of the holiday season.
The highlight of the evening will be Santa’s visit to the park courtesy of the Dumont Fire Department’s escort to the field. At 7:00 pm Santa and Mayor McHale will light the borough’s Christmas tree to signal the start of the winter holiday season.
Festive holiday bags will be distributed to each of the children attending (while supplies last) that are filled with items purchased through donations made by local businesses in town .
Children can have their pictures taken with Santa along with other costume characters which will be at the park. Parents please do not forget to bring your cameras. Hot chocolate will be available courtesy of the Dumont Police PBA.
*Note: You may pick up your Gingerbread house starting on Monday, December 7th or leave them for display at the borough hall through the holiday season. Houses left for display must be picked up by Monday, January 4th. Houses will be discarded after January 4th, 2010.
