The Ryan Caspare Pavilion is located at Memorial Park. This area has been host to
many birthday parties, family reunions, scouting troop meetings, recreation team
parties, etc. Permits for the use of the area can be obtained at the Recreation
Office.
There are barbeque areas and picnic tables set up.
You must show proof you are a town resident in order to secure a permit. There is
no fee for the use of this area. A Hold Harmless Agreement is required.
Recreation offers a six-week camp to town residents at a minimal cost. Camp runs
four hours 9:00-1:00 Monday through Friday at Memorial Park. Camp is closed for
inclement weather.
Boys and Girls Kindergarten through 8th Graders attend. Use of the Swim Club on
Mondays is offered from the hours of 9:00 to Noon at no extra cost to parents on
specified pool dates give at the time of registration.
REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER CAMP TAKES PLACE IN THE MONTH OF MAY EACH YEAR. THERE IS
A LATE FEE FOR REGISTRATIONS PAST THE POSTED DATE AND ALSO THERE IS A CUT OFF DATE
FOR REGISTRATION FOR CAMP.

All volunteer coaches in the Borough of Dumont MUST have attended a Coaches Certification Course and submit to fingerprinting and background checks. Certification courses are held several times through the year.
CERTIFICATION COURSE DATES ARE ADVERTISED ON THE RECREATION WEBPAGE, ON THE RECYCLE CALENDAR AND ALSO IN THE TWIN BORO NEWS. COURSES FOR ADULT COACH CERTIFICATION AND 18 UNDER ARE SEPARATE EVENINGS AS ADVERTISED.
Certification Classes are offered at the Borough Hall. START TIME FOR THE COURSE IS 7PM.
The coach’s certification class is a one time requirement (for coaches 18+) and represents certification within the Borough of Dumont. The certification course is mandatory and does not preclude anyone who has coached at any other level, including high school, college or university or even a professional level.
- You must be 18 years of age to coach or be an assistant coach in any sport or activity within the borough.
- Anyone under the age of 18 may help a coach but is not considered a head coach or an assistant coach and should not be given the responsibility of a coach.
- Anyone under the age of 18 who works helping a coach or in an other capacity for a coach must be certified regardless of their age. (to attend the 18 Under course)
Fingerprinting:
It is the policy of the Dumont Recreation Commission that all coaches 18+ go through a background check. As of March 15, 2008, the State will only accept live scan fingerprints done through Sagem Morpho, Inc.
Fingerprinting is done by appointment only. Appointments can be done via the web at the above address 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. If you have no web access, appointments can be made by calling toll free 877-503-5981 Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to noon.
At the time of Certification you will be given all the forms and further information. Please make sure if you are registering on line that you list as your Employer Name, DUMONT RECREATION, address 50 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ 07628 and your occupation as COACH. If you put your employer’s information in this location all fingerprint results will be sent your present employer.

Dumont Junior Football League at Memorial Park in September 2006. He is currently
a commentator for Jets games on the MSG network.
