Mayor's Advisory Committee on Green Initiatives

On April 16, 2009, the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Green Initiatives held its first meeting. The Committee, under the leadership of Councilman Carl Manna, consists of town residents as well as members of Dumont’s Shade Tree Commission, Environmental Commission, Joint Land Use Board, Board of Education, Department of Public Works and Building Department.

The mission statement of the Committee is to explore all avenues of technology from “A to Z”, from composting to wind turbines, and to educate and engage all residents in the simple changes in everyday routines which can make their lives and the community “greener”. The goal of the Committee is to present to the Mayor and Council technologies that can be applied in Dumont, inclusive of all borough and school buildings, as well as in the community itself.
