May 27, 2013 Memorial Day Services and Parade

Memorial Day Prayer Services will start at 8:00am at Woodside Cemetery, Prospect Street at Madison Avenue; 8:15am at the monument at Washington and Madison Avenues, followed by the Parade line-up at 8:45am.
The Parade will kick off at 9:30am at Pershing Street and its route will take it from Madison Avenue to Prospect Avenue to New Milford Avenue straight to Virginia Avenue, marching forward to Memorial Park. No parking will be permitted on the parade route.

The Dumont Environmental Commission will be participating in the 28th Annual “Hooked on the Hudson” fishing event on Saturday, May 11, 2013. There will be fun family activities for young and old alike. This is a great way to get a kid hooked on fishing as basic instructions, fishing tackle and bait will be supplied. 2013 Arbor Day Festivities

The Dumont Shade Tree Commission would like to invite the public to the 2013 Arbor Day festivities being held on Saturday April 27 at 1pm. The ceremony will be a celebration of the good work done by the Dumont Boy Scouts, we will recognize the winners of the art contest, and we will be planting a new tree in the arboretum. The festivities will begin with a rendition of the National Anthem by local musician and rising rock star Matt DeMarco.
We are very pleased and proud to use this occasion to break ground on the ARBORETUM WALKWAY project. A brick path, landscaping, benches, and a gazebo will be installed in the spring to benefit the community and improve the experience for commuters, shoppers, and the public in the West Shore area. Please come out to join us for a celebration of trees, the environment, and your community.

The Dumont Shade Tree Commission will host a discussion about recent storms and how to prepare for future "Sandys". A Certified Arborist will be on hand to discuss tree care and maintenance, what types of trees and landscapes are best for your yard, how to recognize risks and how to maximize shade and beauty. The best method to minimize storm risks is to be prepared.
Discussion will take place at the Dumont Senior Center, 39 Dumont Avenue. Coffee, snacks and refreshments.

Donors must bring an ID with a signature, weigh over 110 lbs and be in good health. Persons between 17 and 75 yrs can donate; 16 yr old with a parent's consent and older with a doctor's consent.  Free non fasting cholesterol and glucose screening is completed; those with both counts under control are able to donate.  Donors should drink extra water the day before and of the Drive.  They should eat a meal or snack before.
 




NATIONAL TAKE BACK INITIATIVE - SEPTEMBER 29, 2012

ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2012, THE DUMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL PARTICIPATE IN THIS YEARS “NATIONAL TAKE BACK INITIATIVE”.

THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO ALLOW RESIDENTS TO SAFELY RID THEIR HOMES OF UNUSED, UNWANTED AND EXPIRED MEDICATIONS,, BY TURNING THEM INTO LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS.

THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS ACCEPTING THE MEDICATIONS WILL DISPOSE OF THEM IN A SAFE NON-HAZARDOUS MANNER, PREVENTING THESE PILLS FROM FALLING INTO THE HANDS OF OUR CHILDREN OR INTO THE HANDS OF DRUG TRAFFICKERS.

ANY RESIDENT WISHING TO TURN OVER MEDICATIONS MAY DO SO BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 A.M. AND 5:00 P.M., AT THE DUMONT VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE CORPS, LOCATED 108 BROOK STREET, DUMONT, N.J.

Dumont Oktoberfest Street Fair

Magic Marketer and the Dumont Chamber of Commerce will be hold the Dumont Oktoberfest Street Fair on October 6, 2012 (rain date: October 7, 2012), between the hours of 10:00AM and 4:30PM. Set up will begin at 7:00AM and clean-up will end at 5:15PM.

The Street Fair will start at W. Madison Avenue at Washington Avenue through West Shore and end at West Shore before the 110 West Shore building as well as Park Avenue from Quackenbush Avenue to West Madison Avenue.

2012 Halloween Costume Parade

On Saturday, October 27th all Dumont children are invited by the Dumont Board of Recreation Commissioners, Town Celebrations and our host D’Angelo’s Farm to come show off their Halloween Costumes in our annual Halloween Parade.
Residents are to meet at D’Angelo’s Farm, 546 Washington Avenue, at 3:00pm.The parade will start at approximately 3:15pm.
D’Angelo’s is donating hay ride tours through the farm and a chance to take a trip through the Spooky Hay Maze for each Dumont resident from 3-5pm.Each child will receive a giveaway from the Recreation Commission while supplies last.
We would like to thank D'Angelo's Farm for hosting this event yearly for our residents and opening up their facilities for a fun afternoon for the children and the child in all of us.
There will be pony rides, candy apples, donuts, cider and a chance to pick your own pumpkin for purchase at the farm.

The Borough of Dumont will be holding a PAPER ONLY Recycling Event on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 9:00am to 1:00pm in the parking lot at Dumont Borough Hall, 50 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ. All are invited to participate.

Competition Cheering Clothing Drive

Dumont Competition Cheerleading will be holding their Annual Clothing Drive on Thursday, April 26th, 2012 3:30-6:30 at the Dumont DPW Facility.

Donations of clothing, coats, shoes, belts, boots, linens, sheets, draperies, towels, baby items, baby seats, strollers, clean stuffed animals and dolls in good condition are needed.

All donated items are sent to Poland to be distributed via churches and orphanages in Poland.

2012 Easter Egg Hunt

Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Memorial Park on Saturday, March 31st at 10am. Hosted by Town Celebrations and the Dumont Board of Recreation Commission this event is for Dumont residents. Children ages 3-5 years old will meet by the Little League Major Field. Children ages 6 and up will meet by the Minor League Field. No parents/adults will be allowed on the fields with the children. There will be volunteers and commissioners on the field to help the younger children collect their eggs. Children 3 years and under or any child who was unable to go on the field without an adult escort will be given eggs which have been set aside outside the field area.

Please bring your camera and take pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Calvary United Methodist Church - Saturday, December 10th - Dinner at 6:00PM, Concert at 7:30PM Featuring the instrumental and vocal talents of Filip Pogady, Peter Fancovic, Domenick Panfile, Anna Petrova and Peter Greco. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Operation Take Back - Medicine Disposal Day

The Dumont Police Department will host an Operation Take Back New Jersey collection site as part of the annual statewide medicine disposal day. It will be held from 10:00am to 2:00pm, Saturday, October 19, 2011, at the Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps building, 108 Brook Street.

Dumont Competition Cheerleaders will be holding their semi-annual clothing drive on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Dumont DPW facility. Donations of clothing, coats, shoes, boots, linens, sheets, draperies, towels, baby items, strollers, baby seats, stuffed animals, dolls and toys in good condition are needed. Electronics will not be accepted! Please do not drop any items off at the DPW facility before 3:30pm on October 26th.

The Bergen County Utilities Authority will host its confidential paper shredding program for residents only on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 9am to 1pm at Dumont Borough Hall, 50 Washington Avenue, Dumont, NJ. Please note: No Binders, Plastic, Metal or X-rays - Not available for businesses.

JULY 12, 2011 BLOOD DRIVE

Dumont High School Varsity Swim Team

Dumont High School has added a Varsity Swim Team for the
upcoming 2011-2012 school year.  The team will be a co-op program in
conjunction with New Milford High School and all students are welcome to
participate.  Consistent with other swim programs, the team will
require a cost per student, which will be determined based upon such
factors as the number of team members and fund raising efforts. 
Practices will be held several evenings per week during the winter sport
season. 

All interest swimmers and parents are invited to attend an informative meeting on Wednesday, June 15th at 6:00pm in the New Milford High School Cafeteria.  Come be a member of the first Swim Team in the history of Dumont High School. 

DUMONT HIGH SCHOOL HAS A SWIM TEAM

There will be a meeting for all interested swimmers and parents for the NEW Dumont/New Milford High School Varsity Swim Team on Tuesday, May 17th, 6:00PM, at the New Milford High School Cafeteria.

This team will be a fully recognized varsity sport participating as a co-op
with the New Milford program.  All boys and girls in the high school
during the 2011-2012 school year are eligible and encouraged to join!

This is a great opportunity for all our students to get involved in a
competitive athletic program.  Please help spread the word to anyone you
know who might be interested in this fantastic opportunity!

April 30, 2011 Operation Take Back: Medicine Disposal Event

The Dumont Police Department will host an Operation Take Back NJ collection site as part of the second statewide medicine disposal day.  It will be held from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, April 30, at the Dumont Volunteer Ambulance Corps Building, 108 Brook Street.  This initiative, which is open to residents of any community, was organized to encourage people to properly dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medication.  For more information visit the website at operationtake-backnj.com.

Price includes:  Admission, Skate Rental, 1/2 hour lesson, 1 hour practice
