Q: What should I do with yard debris, leaves and grass?

A: The leaves and grass clippings from your lawn must be put in 32-gallon pails only (no plastic bags) or brown recyclable bags and put out on your scheduled grass recycling day.


Q: What should I do with my tree branches?

A: Branches must be cut no longer than 4 feet long and tied in small bundles and put out for Wednesday pickup or can be put out with your regular garbage pickup.


Q: Can I dispose of construction debris with my regular garbage?

A: No - sheetrock, paneling, concrete, brick and other building materials must be discarded at the owner's expense. It will not be picked up by the garbage contractor.


Q: How can I dispose of household hazardous waste (i.e., paint, pesticides, fluorescent bulbs, etc.)?

A: You must take these items to a household hazardous waste collection site. Refer to www.bcua.org for a listing of all collection dates.


Q: How do I dispose of computers/electronics and tires?

A: These items must be taken to a computer/electronics and tire recycling site that the Bergen County Utilities Authority provides. Refer to www.bcua.org for a list of collection dates.


Q: How do I properly containerize recycling/newspaper for pickup?

A: For mixed paper, magazines, junk mail, envelopes, telephone books and soft cover books, corrugated boxes (please flatten), use brown paper bags, a laundry basket, corrugated box or milk crate for paper recycling. For aluminum and tin cans, mixed color glass, bottle and jars, plastic beverage bottles, dishwasher bottles, detergent bottles, use 32 gallon garbage cans or recyclable pails that can be purchased from the Borough at a cost of $8.00 per pail.


Q: Can I drop off recyclable items at the DPW garage?

A: There are no facilities to drop off paper or recyclables at the DPW.
